Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You

Carly Rae Jepsen I Really Like You

Yes, Carly Rae Jepsen has an annoying habit of writing meme-inducing songs. This is no exception.

Yes, this is still simple synth pop that could be taken straight off her last album – her style hasn’t changed since the release of her debut in 2012.

And yes, it sounds like a slightly sped up version of Taylor Swift’s All You Had To Do Was Stay.

But, importantly, this song is just pure, bubbly pop fun. Like Call Me Maybe, it’s a song about being a bit premature, with a sing-along hook and bags of charm.

What’s most frustrating though is that whilst the song is available immediately in the US, the UK release isn’t until THE FOURTEENTH OF JUNE. In this day and age of globalisation, it will have been played on YouTube and illegally downloaded before it’s even had a chance to hit the charts and we’re all sick of it already. No matter how much you like it now, by the time the UK release comes along this could well be really really really really really really annoying.

Listen: I Really Like You is available in the UK on the 14th June.
