OneRepublic - If I Lose Myself
March is shaping up to be a pretty packed month for new albums and now we can add one more to the mix: 'Native', the third album from OneRepublic (pictured).
The band's debut album 'Dreaming Out Loud' was a successful mix of indie-pop and RnB, culminating in the Timbaland collaboration Apologize that dominated the charts in Autumn 2007. But when the actually quite decent All The Right Moves bombed in 2010, second album 'Waking Up' was quickly swept under the carpet.
It's unlikely If I Lose Myself will do much better. The four to the floor, "whoooa" chorus is pleasant enough. The track as a whole is fine. Nice. Harmless. *Yawn*
The best bit is the vocal turn in the verse melody, the only slither of personality. Perhaps frontman Ryan Tedder should focus on his successful run of songwriting for other artists. Judging by If I Lose Myself, it's likely that, come March, 'Native' will be lost amongst other higher profile releases.
